Best Times to Travel
Late May through mid-June and September are the sweet spots. The weather is warm, the sea is swimmable, and the atmosphere feels lively without being overwhelming. You’ll enjoy long lunches in Positano, sunset views from Ravello, and boat days around Capri with far more breathing room.
Early October can also be lovely! There are fewer crowds, softer light, and a more relaxed pace, though some seasonal beach clubs and ferries begin to wind down.
When to Think Twice
The Amalfi Coast is spectacular year-round in photos — but in reality, choosing the right week makes all the difference between “pretty” and truly unforgettable.
April can be unpredictable weather-wise, and many hotels and restaurants don’t fully open until late in the month. Winter (November–March) is very quiet, with many properties closed for the season.

Make Dining Reservations in Advance!
Showing up to popular restaurants without a reservation or trying to make a reservation that day is a big mistake.Make reservations–especially in high season (May-September) well in advance. Spots like La Tagliata in Positano or L’antica Trattoria in Sorrento book out fast, and you don’t want to miss out on an unforgettable meal. You can definitely eat at some restaurants without dinner reservations, but the top spots require them.
